Haven't been on this forum in a long time, but thought it would be the best place to get my question answered. Could my Cockshutt Grain grinder grind wheat fine enough to make flour, if I turned it down tight. This grinder is old, but works really well.

That depends what type of flour you are aiming for. You can probably grind fine enough to make something you can bake with, albeit a heartier flour. But part of the issue is, even if you grind a grain very fine, it will be very inconsistent in granular size and requires sifting through a sieve (or multiple sieves) to make something that isn't too "rustic" or uneven to bake with. Also depends on if you plan to store it or use it right away. With the latter, you also needs to sift out the bran or it spoils quickly. But if you aren't aiming for five pounds of King Arthur all purpose white flour, you can make something usable, home grown, and have fun doing it.
