I Have heard that some or A lot of the Ethanol plants are shutting down Because of the Gas and Diesel prices. So where does that leave the cattle feeders that are feeding DDG as part of the feed ration to there cattle? I have never fed the DDG products to my livestock But I know some that do ESP the feedlots. I suppose that they can replace it with corn But at what cost?

We feed DDG to our cows and calves for protein in the winter. Doesn't look like we will be able to get any more for next few months anyway, and price shot up. Guessing all protein will see a price increase with the shortage. Used to be lots of alfalfa grown for protein but with Distillers grains, those fields now grow corn mostly.

My cattle feeding neighbors DDG supply was cut from a load every other day to a load every 5 days. A local cow/calf producer was shut off completely and I sold him some 22% CP alfalfa to help meet the need for protein. Just wondering if in 4-6 months these sorts of changes become the "new normal" or everything bounces back to what was going on Jan-Feb
