Yesterday as I attended a Xmas party one of the other guests, also a draft horse owner, told me on Facebook she had learned that Billings, Jason Julian's Brabant stallion had died last August. That would be a pity and certainly a great loss for the Julian family. The stallion was featured in several of the videos that Joe did and it was a joy to see him. Does anybody know what happened?

Yes, it is true. Billings died last summer. He apparently ingested a toxin and suffered organ failure. The Julians put him down to end his suffering when it became apparent they would be unable to save him after several days of trying with their vet.

He was a nice horse, apparently a good breeder, smart and alert but willing in harness and a good teammate to the mares he worked alongside.

Katrina Julian is writing a three-part series of her family's experiences during the last year (most of them good). The first one will be in the next issue. I think the second will include the story of Billings' loss and the third will include the replacement stallion they got in Canada and have been training to drive.

I am sorry and I feel for there loss as I know what it feels like to lose what you consider the best. I know it sounds crude but the way that I keep things in order is I just say ( If you haven't got them or it you can't lose them or it) It is to bad that they lost him but there still going ahead more power to them. This great country was built by people who just bowed there neck and kept going on no mater what. This site is filled with that kind of good people. I have a hard time saying what I feel hope this helps. thank you all.
