Stop National Animal ID

Presenting the Truth
by Darol Dickinson

Thank you for the good job Rural Heritage has done to honestly inform the public about the negatives of the government NAIS alleged program. The articles by Judith McGeary and Karen Bergener are correct and right-on. I can’t believe how wrong Farm Bureau has been on this issue and how this would hurt the Farm Bureau members financially, especially for small producers. Rural Heritage has accurately warned the readers. At the same time the National Cattlemen’s has promoted NAIS. Beef Magazine and Drover Magazine have supported it all the way. Even Western Horseman was silent. Thank you for your courage.

NAIS will not go away. The government does not run out of money in promoting their bad ideas. The USDA has spent over $600 per producer trying to sell us on premises sign-up and only less than 14% of the producers have surrendered to it. Encourage everyone who has signed up to remove their farms from the government premises list. It is important that a clear signal be received that this is not needed or wanted. I wish the Farm Bureau people could figure out how this would have cost small farmers millions. Thank you Rural Heritage for presenting the truth to your readers.
