Comments: Through no fault of his, but due to my recent surgery and illness, we are offering our gorgeous and well started Premium Registered NASDHA gelding for sale. He is a young, clean, sound, well-started gelding, and would need someone with some experience due to his age. He has been very well started, though, and can go any direction suited for a draft/cross type at this point! Thunder is a 3-year-old, measures just over 16 hands (using an accurate level measure), and is perfectly sound. He has a full mane and tail, and very light feather. He currently has the look of a big warmblood with thick legs, but will muscle up more as he matures. He is built very proportionally, never had shoes, and lives in a "Paddock Paradise" track system for ultimate hoof health. We use Clinton Anderson-style training methods for our groundwork and foundation, so he is very familiar with yielding, circling, and respect. He loads/unloads, bathes, swims (pretty much anything water related is something he enjoys!!), and adores people. He is a cuddler! He is used to children, dogs, and a variety of other farm animals. He has been driving for almost two years, and recognizes the commands. We have an active, working horse-powered farm, so he has been used on a variety of farm equipment, as well as our carriage and wagon. He has not been driven single yet, due to age and the fact we keep his workload light and easy at this stage, but he will drive right or left on a team, and any position of a three-abreast hitch. He went to the Illinois Horse Fair this year, and performed in the arena and among the crowds. He was used in beginner driving clinics this year; he is currently doing wagon rides at a pumpkin patch, and he has done several other events as well. In addition to driving, he was started under saddle. He went on a couple of short, easy trail rides last fall, prior to my surgery, and did great. He is still considered very green, but he has a ton of try and willing heart. He walks and trots great, but is still insecure at the canter. He will need a refresher due to my riding limitations at this point, but he will make a gorgeous mount for some lucky rider as he matures. Thunder is as awesome as they come, and the sweetest horse you'll meet! My elementary-age children can handle, groom, bathe, tie, and lead him with no problem. My 12 year old daughter helps harness and bridle him. He stands in a tie stall or at a hitch rail, never pulls back, and is a gentle giant. I'm not in a hurry to sell, and he will continue to be used on our farm as he matures. I'm only offering him because he is younger than my experienced team, and is the one I can spare as a result. Random videos and additional photos of him driving available upon request, or you can view additional photos here: http://www.draftsforsale.com/ShowAd/index.php?id=5b0da204b9f53 Located in Petersburg, IL. Delivery may be possible in the U.S., for an additional fee. I can include a full, nearly brand new, bio work harness (as seen in pics) for additional price if needed. Contact me with any questions.
