Picking? Pulling? Husking? Anyway with a friend and my horses and wagon I removed ears of dry corn from the stalk. I did not remove the shuck as I harvested. That'd be husking?
Anyway now I'm ready to shell some with an old fashioned hand corn sheller. Question: Do I have to remove the husks before putting the ears into the sheller? If so, how does one easiest/best do that?

yes you must remove the husk to put thru the sheller. I can't call the name of the thing you put on your hand but we use them pulling corn and leave the husk hanging on the stalk.

Lehman's sells both the kind that fits on your finger as well as the one that straps to the palm of your hand. Although with a heavy pair of (clean) work gloves you can get along just fine without the husking peg.
