I have to be in Scottsbluff tomorrow to pick up a load of calves to bring back to Brewster. so another day, that should be the last of them. Where the calves are at they got rain and snow the driveway is supposed to be dry tomorrow so a truck can get in and out of there loaded if not they will have to out up portable panels out at the hy so they can be loaded.

K.C., how many calves are you usually hauling? Do you do all this by yourself?

we usually haul 100-120 calves in a 53 x102 pot (cattle trailer) double deck. We haul 40-44 cows total weight of load is usually 50-54000 lbs or a close estimate. as far as the driving usual by my self most loads only go 250- 400 miles. the cowboys round up the cow-calf pr and sort them then we load the calves to the feed lot and in about 2-3 weeks we go back and load the cows and haul the cows to the cornstalks for the winter. then when the cows start calving we haul them to there home for calving season. when that is over we haul the pairs to summer pasture. The year ends or begins again.

I wrote it before here on the Front Porch, K.C., you are one busy guy and well diversifed in your activities. Just don't let those cattle trample over you!

My plan is to be safe as I can be it takes to long to heal up. I have 4 more loads of cows to haul be Wednesday some only 50 miles to corn stalks others 250 miles. We have all the calves hauled now. the owner just had hip replacement surgery his last one only lasted 9 years the metal rod that they put in the bone broke not the joint.
