Why is milk pasteurized?

Pasteurization stops the transmission of disease such as tuberculosis.

it is supposed to kill all the bad things in the whole milk. I don't know what is bad in whole milk as I drank a lot of it as soon as it cooled down I never liked warm milk, but my dad did. we had a milk cow for years until I left home I milked her 2 times a day.
