Is a clay or loam soil better adapted for grasses than a sand soil?
I had clay soils for 30 years, and I'd choose loam any day. When dry, clay is as hard as cured cement, and when wet just as soft and slippery as wet cement.

I would say no. Than again I live in the Nebraska Sandhills, the areas that worked in that had clay also seemed to have woody types of plants such as sagebrush
