About what percent of the plant nutrients in feed fed to livestock is recovered in the manure?

This should have been yesterday's question, but apparently, I wasn't awake enough to realize I was posting it as a response rather than a new post. I really need to remember, coffee first, post second!

So that means the animal passes 80% of the nutrients it takes in---no wonder the proper feed ration balance is so important!

This has always been my reasoning to buy in at least some of my stock feed. By purchasing in feed for my mules (I feed four every day in tie stalls) and growing all the hay I feed cattle, I feel that I'm able to import a good bit of fertility by catching the mule manure and saving it for row crops. We don't feed any grain to the cattle but have recently started soil testing my pastures, other than lime, the only thing recommended is fifty pound of phosphate tot he acre. By spreading the mule manure made from bought in feeds, I'm letting someone else buy my fertilize for my tobacco crop. I mainly turn under legume cover crops to get the nitrogen I need.
