Sat morning one of our hunters got a buck still in the velvet, that was castrated, He weighted 299 LBS field dressed he was big and fat.

He was either someone's pet OR a buck that never dropped his testicles. No other possibilities I can think of.

Sometimes they will catch the scrotum when jumping fences. This is kind of a self castration.

I Haven't castrated any deer for 5 years, when I did I always put a notch in the end of the left ear. When I rode alot of country I would find 3 or more young bucks and would cut one of the 3 just because they would really grow big and there is more bucks than needed

I'm sorry. The photo of the 36 point buck was meant to say it was with a story in the Mpls. Star Tribune on Nov. 16. A 78 year old hunter, no longer climbing up in tree stands, shot this guy coming out of a corn field as he sat in his lawn chair.
