It is no secret that my farm is mixed powered. I prefer horses but do use a tractor at times. I wouldn't want to farm without a skidsteer either. I do as much with my horses as possible.
I skidded some big logs and I hauled some giant pieces from a fallen white oak tree up to be split. These were pieces as big as five feet in diameter. Wedges and a sledge worked, but wow it took a very long time.
I traded labor with a neighbor who sent me his son and a skidsteer mounted logsplitter. The large logsplitter hangs upside down. He puts it on top of the log piece and in just seconds the wood is flying.
In three hours he made short work of what would have taken me many weeks. It was a great day and an awesome machine!
