What changes take place with the two pelvic or pubic bones as a hen comes into production?

I would say that the two pubic bones separate more to allow for the passage of eggs. Same thing happens with female mammals to enable childbirth.

These bones spread from the dormant conditions of about the width of one finger to two or three fingers apart. They also become thinner and more flexible to permit the passage of the egg.
