For those that haven't heard, Gene Logsdon (The Contrary Farmer) passed away yesterday at his home in Ohio, surrounded by family. He will be missed. I have no doubt that many on this forum are ardent fans of his and Gene's influence on small scale farming will be a lasting legacy.

Farewell, Gene.

Witty, sage and a heck of a good man. He will be missed by all who read and loved him.

Bless you, Gene.

If one wishes to offer condolences to his family, there's a growing number posted for his family (who have shared their thoughts as well) on his blog.

Gene was a great friend of mine. He wrote the forward for me in my book "Cultivating Memories". I am saddened by his passing, but I know darn well, Gene would want us all to celebrate his life.

He was the author of many books. He wrote "The Contrary Farmer" blog each week as well as articles in each issue of "Farming" magazine and also for the "Draft Horse Journal".

He had an endearing spirit, lots of wit and was filled with humor. He inspired many people and brought many back to the land. I know that I am a better man for just knowing him.

I will grieve just a bit, then raise a toast to a great man, a long friendship and memories to last forever. Thank You Gene
