Our local Amish community has scheduled their benefit auction for May 21st, this year. I haven't gotten to see a list of items yet but I've been told it will be a good one (It usually is!). I'm thinking pretty hard about thinning the amount of rust I have setting around the place and may be taking some stuff over to see how it does. For those interested, pull out your map of Kentucky, go to Fleming county, locate Flemingsburg and look to the south, down highway 11 til you see a little spot of a "town" called Tilton. go east on highway 156 about three miles and you'll see a road marked 1515. If you've traced the route by hand, it's likely your finger is now covering the spot where the auction will be. Hope to see some of you all out this year. I'll post more info on what's to be expected as I find it out.

So. Oh. Bill says 2016-04-25 22:02:52 (CST)

Jerry, I hope to come down to the sale this year. I like to support the school auctions when I can. Who is the auctioneer for this sale. He may have it listed on his web site.

They've actually been doing their own auctioneering the last few years. Several of the Amishmen in the area are pretty good auctioneers and they like to give it a try for the benefits. It should be a good sale. I'm planning to take a hay rake, maybe some mowing machines and a few other things myself.

I had an Amish friend stop by my place a couple of days ago and he said their is a new bill out telling some of the stuff that will be up for sale. My truck has been in the shop and I've been home-bound for the last week, but I'll likely get out and get a new list this weekend. The address for the sight is 1082 Orchard Rd. Flemingsburg, Ky. There will be several horses there. There usually is, and a big horse dealer lives just down the road. He usually brings a team or two and a few standardbreds.

I picked up a new sale bill and then stopped and spoke with the bishop of the community. There were no horses on the sales list but he was certain there would be some at the auction. There was a long list of farm equipment and tools. It should be a pretty good auction this year though I'm not sure I'll be able to stay for the whole thing. It seems like everyone wants to schedule their events for the same day and I have about six places I need to be!
