I don't recall having read why this is, but I do recall how lime and phosphate combined have a greater effect than the sum of the whole. I mean if lime on a hay field gives an increase of 50 percent production, and phosphate added alone to a field gives a 30 percent increase, lime and phosphate added together on a field will give and increase near 130 percent.
