Things are settling down from the fall work rush. Shipping calves, weaning replacement heifers and bull calves, preg testing, and so on.
The snow and cold snap has me feeding cattle early but with stackyards bursting full I'm not worried.
Hooking teams and feeding cattle is a great chore that I come to enjoy more and more the older I get.
The first week on the bobsled you can't get used to the silence. Wagon work and haying equipment make it seem more so.

Things are settling down around here, too, Wes. But unlike a cattle rancher being a vegetables producer I have few opportunities to hook up the horses during winter for meaningful work. We'll spread manure, for sure.

This bitter cold and wind already getting tiresome. I fed 3 ton of hay and the cows about had it mopped up before I left the field.
It was exceptionally nasty today. 20 and 30 mph wind and subzero windchill.

In a way, for winter I'd prefer cold to the wet weather we tend to have. At least the ground stays hard so I can hitch the team and spread manure. Right now, we have a sea of mud.

Wind and cold in Wyoming is a myth. Until you have experienced the rawness of that wind. I thought I was cold hardy until I took a spin on a wagon around your bench.
