I got my sprayer put together and got it put on the tractor 200 gallon of chemicals so for the next 2-3 weeks i will be spraying weeds. You're not supposed to spray if it is going to rain within 6 hours. You can't kill, it just control it some what. some years it doesn't look like you did any good, others it looks like you did a good job.

If you use good farming practices, you don't need to use chemicals that do more harm than good.

So many thoughts are going through my mind about this, but I am not going to comment more than I just have.

Good farming practices don't help much if your neighbors don't do it. Seeds blow in . Also , a fellow doesn't know what weed seeds are in hay that he/she buys.

We do not use any synthetic chemicals on our farm, not even those that would be allowed under organic farming practices for two reasons: You never know which beneficial insects you might hurt and second, we consider it a short cut which might be useful short term, but once you got on that path you might repeat the practice without fully understanding the long term effects. Natural ways are available, but admittedly do not work instantaneously.
