Is Denmark a prosperous agricultural country because of rich soils?

Denmark soils are very productive, but have a very low clay content. Many are a sandy loam...suited well for horse farming I bet!

Hmmm, now that makes me wonder. Was Denmark not a prosperous country in 1932? Or, if it was, did it get it's wealth elsewhere, like, perhaps from the sea? I'll have to dig a little deeper on this one.
