Yes, I would think this number is for a cow in a stanchion. The questions I've asked concerning cattle all come from the book on Dairying, while some things would be the same as for beef cattle, there are many that are different. I would imagine a beef cow confined to a box stall would require a great deal more bedding. I may have to do some calculations give the carbon ratio required to make good compost and the average amount of manure produced per year per cow and see what might be a more accurate number for a beef critter.
