Pioneer Homesteader
Posted by Belgianguy at 2011-09-06 22:20:38
I saw an ad for the new Pioneer Homesteader in the Waverly catalog online. Has anyone seen this new creation in person? It sounds like an interesting and useful piece.

IF IT IS THE NEW PRODUCT DESIGNED FOR THE SMALL OR BACK YARD FARMER I SAW IT AT HPD. THERE ARE SEVERAL ATACHMENT AVALABLE FOR IT WITH ONLY TWO PINS TO CHANGE THE ATACHMENTS. I LIKE THE SMALL PLOW, BECAUSE IT LOOKS TO BE EASY TO GET INTO AND OUT OF THE GROUND FOR THIS OLD MAN. I THINK IT IS A GREAT CONCEPT, KINDA LIKE THE OLD GRAVERLY TRACTOR. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE.

It is a pretty useful piece of equipment for a small acreage. We will have a piece on it in Sam Moore's roundup of field demonstrations at HPD last July in the next issue of RH.

Joe

I will try to remember to post a photo of it here when I get in to the office this morning.

Well, I finally remembered. Here are a few photos.

Here it is with the disc attachment.

Looks awesome. What are the current prices?
Response by Randle at 2011-09-08 16:07:03
Good question Arlee. I tried googling and the Pioneer website but couldn't find anything. I'd like to know more...

Thank you for posting the pics Uncle Joe. As my 16 yr old nephew (who wants to farm at least part time!!) would say, "This is way wicked!!"
Response by Belgianguy at 2011-09-08 16:46:45
I saw an ad for it in the horse section of the Waverly horse sale catalog for this fall...pg 15 or 16, I think. Unfortunately, there wasn't much info...just a pic which peeked my interest.
Response by Catherine in Va at 2011-09-08 20:24:48
Ohhhh, I want one. I'm not sure the old grey gelding would be up to that much work, but it might be an excuse to get a new horse or two, LOL.

Joe, is this piece made by Pioneer Equipment?
Response by Uncle Joe at 2011-09-09 06:52:38
Yes. It is still in development stage. We will have more on it in the next issue of RH in our HPD wrap-up.

Marshall talked to Ester this morning. They are still working the bugs out of it. Wont be available until next spring or summer. No price on it yet. Just thought I would let you all know what he found out. Rachel

Thank you. That piece is neat! I do like my walking plow, but my complaint to Pioneer a good while back was taht most of their equiment was made for the production farmer (mostly amish) that have 3,4, or more horses to use on the equipment. That is one thing that has kept me a real fan of the company, they are truley innovative in trhying to find new niches and contantly to try new things.
Response by Marshall at 2011-09-10 20:52:53
I forgot to add that Ester said they were going to add a cultavator also. So that would make 5 attachments to the Homesteader. Just hope the price is reasonable. Rachel

Thank you for the updates Uncle Joe and Rachel. Looks like a great piece of equipment that would work for many different situations.
Response by jim Schneider at 2011-10-09 11:48:28
Now that looks like some thing I could make good use of. What size is the plow? I may need to get another mule.
Response by Uncle Joe at 2011-10-09 14:17:32
The plow is ten inches. The implement is designed to be used on a small acreage.
