Estrus problems on mares

I have heard that the use of dopamine antagonist may help mares to star cycling. I would like to know more about this subject.

I consulted Dr. Jim Brendemuehlm, who has done work in this area (Brendemuehl J.P. and Cross DT. Influence of the dopamine antagonist domperidone on the vernal transition in the mare. Journal of Reproduction and Fertility Supplement 56, 185-193, 2000).
Dr. Brendemuehl provided the following information:
The bottom line is dopamine antagonists such as domperidone can potentially help, but that a dopamine antagonist isn't a substitute for other management practices, specifically extended lighting programs (putting mares under lights in December) and good nutrition.
We hope this helps!
