Hay stretcher
Posted by susan at 2008-01-06 11:50:30
Anyone know if the amount of molasses in Blue Seal Hay Stretcher pellets is harmful for my EPSM horse? He loves them and I was thinking of putting about a pound in his pasture pal daily to keep him occupied. I tried the alfalfa cubes, but they don't work well in the pasture pal. I used to be able to get large size alfalfa pellets, but they are no longer available. Any other large size pellet feed suggestions for the pasture pal? Thanks!

I don't have an answer for you, but I can say that the various feed companies have been very accommodating any time I emailed for info about calories, starch content, etc., so you could try contacting them and see if they respond, if nobody has an answer for you here.

Hay stretcher pellets are fine. Actually, all pellets, even alfalfa pellets, have a small amount of molasses as a binder. Not enough to make a difference for an EPSM horse, though.
