we have put borium on the shoes this works well for a while but still chewing it out before the 6 weeks are up and don't want to shoe every 4-5 weeks her hooves are becoming full of old nail holes

There can be a lot of reasons that a horse drags the front of the hind foot. Sometimes it is just the way that horse moves, but more often, it is a lameness issue. If you can get to the root of that, you may be able to offer the horse relief, as well as your shoeing budget. A stabbing/sliding hind foot landing is most often a problem in the hock, while I find that dragging the toe will often involve the stifle or the hip joint. Since both shoes are wearing, it may be in the sacroiliac joint or back. You might try having the blacksmith place the borium or drill-tec on the outside edge of the shoe, but that is only going to help treat the symptoms.
