Bloody foot
Posted by glenn at 2007-08-03 12:19:20
I have an 11-year-old Belgian. He has live that is really close to the bottom of his hoof and when trimming blood is right there. I don't want to use javex to drive the live back up b/c it will make his foot dry and hard. Can you help me? thanks glenn

If the horse is lame or sore-footed in rough going, then this is the type of horse for which shoes are made. For horses with thin soles we generally trim less so that there is more protection if we are not going to use shoes. As far as using something to drive the quick back, I would only suggest using venice turpentine, and that sparingly.
