Hoof trimming

Hi, I have a 11yr old standardbred and I was trying to tell whether or not his hooves were too long or not. He lives in a fairly hard paddock and generally trim themselves. I was just wondering how long the measurement from heel to toe should be and also how long from the coronary band to toe and coronary band to heel.

Even though some have tried to put measurements to the question you are asking, it is impossible to do so. It would be as if I stated all 25-year-old hispanic males must wear a size 9 shoe. There is no way that would work. If you want to know if the feet are correct, you need a good farrier on site to judge the growth against the wear.
