Flat hoofs crashed heels

Hi Chris. Just recently got a horse in my books that's got flat soles and a broken back hoof pastern axis. He has been sound on & off for a long time before I started shoeing him. The soul is dropped around the apex of the frog and stands out higher than the wall. I've ask for x-rays. The vet took them and he says all looks good. I don't see how the hoof can be fine. I've yet to see the x-rays, but due to the vet always forgetting to bring them or so he says. His heels are right back past the widest point of the frog, right back to the bulbs, and he has very thin walls plus a concaved hoof capsule. I've put eggbars on him for now and it's been keeping him sound. In your profesional opinion, would you put heartbars on him?
Thank you

I would absolutely go with heart bars. I don't like egg bars on the type of foot you describe, since they can make the heels bear more weight. A simple rule of thumb for any shoe that extends past the perimeter of the foot (toe extension, egg-bar, lateral extension, fishtail, etc.), is the last point of contact between the shoe and the foot is the area of the foot that will bear the most pounds per square inch. Use a wide webbed heart bar, get straight tubular horn on the hoof capsule, and fill the bottom of the foot with Equipak.
