Big young drafts that play hard and get sole bruises

Not shod. My trimmer doesn't say too much about it. We don't trim for awhile. It doesn't bother the big guys. Just wondering if anyone has the same problem. It comes from hard rough ground that iced up. Would overweight cause it? They will be 3 in April and are about 2400 lbs. They have full turnout and I figure the layer of fat helps them when they lay down on the frozen NY ground.

I've got a 1200 lb. Appy gelding 17 yr. that has shown signs of sole bruising in the winter since I purchased him as a 2 yr old .He's never been lame from them and they have never gotten soft or infected and he has been ridden and driven year round here in Pa. and N.J. I do keep him shod year round with snow pads in the winter. Some horses are prone to it and I think it is easier to see on light colored feet.
