New Website
Posted by Uncle Joe at 2015-09-10 22:10:41
We will launch our new site Monday, Sep 14. It will look very different from what you are used to here, but please give it a chance. Change can be hard and is not always for the best, but in this case it will be a major improvement. This 15-year-old site has served us well but is written in obsolete programming language, requires constant repairs, and is vulnerable to hacking attacks. The new site will provide easier to use tools for posting photos on the front porch and offer a lot more resources and content.

To post on the front porch, you must register. You may provide as little or as much information as you like, but the registration requirement helps protect us from cyber attacks.

We are prepared for potential problems and want to help folks register and get back to business posting on the porch right away. Call us if you have trouble, beginninug Monday, Sep 14 at 8 am, central time. Thanks to the testers who helped us identify some glitches and offered ideas for improvement.

All old threads and existing active threads will be archived and available for searching. If you wish to comment on a thread that is archived, start a new thread and we will go from there.

This has been a long and expensive process to design the new site, but I think if you explore all it has to offer, you will agree it will have been worth it.

Congratulations Joe. I know this has been a long journey for you. I also think it will benefit us all a great deal.

Change isn't always easy. We will adjust. It is good for the brain cells to be challenged now and then.

The new site is good!

Am I going to have to re-register and re-do username etc.??

Uncle Joe--------- will I still be able to use my current screen name and password? As in....can I use the same information even though I will need to re-register etc. ?

Thank you for all the time that you and yours have put into this new endeavor.
