Looking for Fjord
Posted by Patsy at 2015-09-03 06:29:58
Im looking for someone that breeds or has Fjords for sale. Not looking for anything for show, just looking for good comformation, and not this new leggy look that they are now breeding. Looking for the ole style. Looking for something broke, and of course something that I can afford.
Yeah I know that I have big dreams, and you get what you pay for.

You can try dreamhorse.com (yes, a real site)

Good luck on your mission, the short-squat Fjords are getting more difficult to find.

I have found many, many 15 hand, dressage types. (rolling my eyes)

There is an outfit from Minnesota that advertises Fjords trained to farm work in the Rural Heritge Magazine.

If outcrossing is illegal to the association, how are they now miraculously getting leggier horses and keeping them registered?

Don't know how far you're willing to travel but I found this in Atlanta.

Jonathan, since there are variations within any breed, consistent selection of certain types when breeding can over time lead to changes in conformation of the breed even without outcrossing.

Where are you located? The ad for MN Fjords would be Dave and Sue Lusty at Miltona,MN these are long time breeders and great people to deal with.
I live in Northeast Iowa and know some breeders around this area if it would do you any good. I have Fjords and would have more if I had the time and means to work with them. We are seeing some Fjords in this area without papers and also a lot of Stallions are being cut so numbers are going down. Part due to prices and most of the established breeders are getting older and cutting down as I am also. My email is in the listings for porch people.
If I can help any way drop a line. Ike I
