Fjord Haflinger

Has anyone seen or heard of someone crossing a Fjord and Haflinger? There's a young registered Fjord for sale locally.

If she is actually registered and is used for cross breeding, from what I have heard, the Fjord association will pull her papers for life. They don't promote outside breeding (same if it is a stud). If registration is not important, go for it.

The last I heard NFHR will want to pull the papers on any registered Fjord that is outcrossed.

It's a young stud. Thanks for the knowledge. (What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.)

Yah it is a Fee-yord thing--the breed traces back 2,000 years. The Fjords still retain primitive Asiatic wild horse characteristics. Historically, they were the horse of the Vikings. Norwegian royalty retained right of stallion selection for five-hundred years....having said all that, I once saw a fine Fjord mule when I lived out in Idaho (and a couple of Fjord x Belgians)...
