Farm Question 8/03/2015
Posted by Jerry Hicks at 2015-08-03 04:46:42
What commonly noted change takes place with reference to the keel, or breast bone, as a hen comes into production?

Just a guess, but I'd guess mineral is lost from the keel for egg production. So it could get either smaller, or certainly weaker in composition.
And if none of this is true...... I never wrote this !

The rear part of the keel bone lowers so that one may place from three to five fingers in the space between the keel and pubic bones.
