Forenoon.

I assumed that meant before noon, as I had never heard that term before. Turns out it's just another way of saying morning.

"forenoon" is a contraction of "before" and "noon." Not used much now, maybe in the South where they also say "10 minutes of 11" which I never knew whether it was before or after 11 o'clock. Confusing.
