Farm Question 6/23/2015
Posted by Jerry Hicks at 2015-06-23 04:47:37
Are dairy cattle heterozygous or homozygous?
Response by Jay Chase at 2015-06-23 09:34:01
Don't you mean to ask about a specific trait? I am sure that there are both heterozygous and homozygous genotypes for specific traits in all dairy cattle.

I'd lean towards homogozous.

Heterozygous.

That was how the question appeared in the book. I assumed it meant heterozygous or homozygous for those traits that made it a milk cow as opposed to a beef type or a poor milker at the least.
