Farm Question 5/22/2015
Posted by Jerry Hicks at 2015-05-22 05:27:44
Is the color of the egg yolk influenced most by rate of laying, the character of the ration fed, or the individuality of the hen?

The feed. Most evident when comparing eggs from caged chickens to free range chickens. Also much better tasting with the free range chickens

What they are fed.

Feed – If they are free range the yolks get darker when the temperature gets above 60F and the bugs become more active
