per Hydrogen. The measurement of available hydrogen in a solution.

There some pretty stout chemistry to explain it all. Something about a logarithmic scale, if I remember.
Response by Vince Mautino at 2015-04-22 11:42:08
The acidic or base content of the soil. Usually a scale of 1-10, the lower the number, the more acidic
Response by Mike at 2015-04-22 13:34:02
The negative logarithm of the hydrogen ion concentration. The scale goes from 1-14.
Response by Jerry Hicks at 2015-04-23 06:11:58
The degree of soil reaction (acidity or alkalinity).
