draft team pole

My husband needs to fabricate a pole for our forecart. He has a lot of 2x2x1/8 sq tubing laying around. Is this sufficient or should we saw a log?

1/8th wall is good enough unless they sit on it.

That's what I'm using on my Wagon, I use 2 1/2 ×2 1/2 1/8 wall on my forecart.

If you find your material to be a little flemsey you can lay a piece quarter inch square stock to the top and bottom to add strength without adding much weight

I'd whittle up a couple wood tongues to have as spares when the steel bends. Reinforcing is a real good idea. 2" will bend at some point, if it's being used heavily. If you have lots, make a spare steel pole, maybe?

I have a couple steel tongues on my scrap pile. They're handy for cutting pieces off for various projects.
