Lee, any questions you have or more details needed, let me know. My original root-o-tiller is still in use. It is buried in snow right now, but the boar will occupy it as soon as we get past mud season... of course winter has to loosen its tight grip first!

Hi
Ralph has very good ideas & stories, but I did make one change to his root a tiller after one years use.
Instead of the gate being 8 feet (in my tiller) wide I made 6 feet of fence and 2 feet of gate, with the gate opening into the open side. This way you can back the pig crate up tight to the tiller open the gate inwards and have 1 person hold a piece of plywood ( ours is about 3 X 6 feet) and extend the 2 foot gate into a wing. The other person moves the pig along the long wall towards the gate, when pig is close push the plywood up against the long wall and walk it towards the gate opening. If your lucky, pig will start into the crate and you close the gate.

Great improvement Dick. My boar and sows follow me, so the gate is no problem. I have used it for market hogs and your smaller gate would be just the ticket for loading into a crate or trailer. Good advice here Lee.

I'd sure like to see a picture of this root-o-tiller. I'm not sure , but if it's what I think it is , I made one years ago, but didn't know what you called it, we just called it a pig pin
