new mower?
Posted by Nick from MI at 2014-10-23 08:37:02
I was wondering if anyone seen the new prototype mower at HPD this year. I believe Master Equipment was making it. I didn't attend HPD this year but I seen the pictures in the RH magazine. I was wondering what your thoughts were on it and if anyone had better pictures of it.

I seen it but don't really remember much about it. Sorry

Dang.
These always interest me.
Would like to know how long was the bar, ground driven, etc.
Anybody?

Here are photos of the spec sheet on the mower and a close-up shot of the mower as it sat in the yard I use just to marry the spec sheet with the implement to help identify it when it is in the demonstration.

It was ground drive with a 7 foot bar.

I was talking with the Master Equip fellows that next week and they said they got an order for 1 at HPD, but with a 6' bar. So they can make it with whatever length you want. The price is a lot better than the other ground drive one on the market.

Thanks. Looks like it has dolly wheel set up.
Interesting.

That dolly wheel could make it rough riding on a lot of meadows. Makes the movement from 14 down to 4. If it drops in a cow trail, badger hole, muskrat runway or goes over a gopher mound, you might want your spurs.

single action mower? If so, apples and oranges regarding price comparison with double action mowers.

Wow! That looks pretty nice. I like the platform.

Also, their mower is not brand new hot off the press. I think I first saw it about 3 years ago when they were just building it. They got it to working and had Amish farmers test it for them. That way they worked on the bugs and kept tweaking on the thing for several years now. Yep it is single action, shares some parts with McD #9. I would prefer one myself without the dolly wheel.
