Farm Question 10/20/2014
Posted by Jerry Hicks at 2014-10-20 05:29:58
Name three emergency pasture crops?
Response by Dale Wagner at 2014-10-21 01:13:10
Here it can't be anything you would plant because of lack of moisture. So it would have to be the "long pasture" or the road right of ways.
I use to tell the sheepherder to move them down a road slow enough that they ate all the feed on it.

Sudan grass, rape, rye, and vetch.

Dale, we graze the "long acre" here a lot too. There are a couple of right of ways along my farm that are wide enough I sometimes cut them for hay.
