Where is a good place to order cane seed for molasses that is not hybird? What I have found is small packages that are cost prohibitive. Thanks

I cut, cooked, put molasses in jars last week. I have "Dale" seed from the last several years. It can grow to 18' tall. It is 115 day. I have had it that tall and goes down which becomes a job to get it stripped and cut. It is disease-resistant, mild-flavored amber color syrup. In the past I got 90 gallons of juice from 12 rows 100' long. A half of cup is more than enough seed. I don't know how much seed your looking for but I would part with some. e-mail

All, Thanks.
Forrest, no more than a cup as another man and I want to split it.
Carl, I will get in contact with you.
Thanks again everyone.

Here is a place to order open pollinated sweet sorghum. I have made syrup from the Rox Orange and Dale. Both are good but I prefer the more moderate height of the Rox Orange (7-9'). It resist lodging much better than the taller varieties. I have also planted Black Amber (lodges) and Mennonite (similar to Rox Orange). The larger packet of seed will plant 4 300' rows.

My research indicates that molasses is a by-product of the sugar industry thus made from sugar cane. SORGHUM is made from sorghum cane which is a different plant. We get our sorghum seed from Shumway.
