An Owl is eating the heads off my chickens

Had a kill the other night so I left it out for the culprit to come back the next night. I borrowed a game cam from a buddy of mine and caught the fellow in the act.

I didn't know owls came back to pick off their kills the following night. Thanks for sharing.

My guess is it returned for another fresh one and decided to have a snack while planning his next move. We had a beautiful moonlit night yesterday and the coyotes were thinking about fresh turkey. They woke me up about 1:30 A.M. with their howling. Apparently they understand the sound of a shotgun shell being chambered. They didn't hang around.

Mark, I wish I could say that about the coyote that has been visiting here for weeks. Borrowed a shotgun from a friend, had a shot at it, missed, of course, since I am not a marksman, but after a week or so the rascal came back. Saw it this morning while harvesting kale, had to run into the house for the gun, the coyote was slowly sauntering back into the brush, I shot and missed again from about 80 yards, but I hope I scared him enough for a few days. Probably will have to sit and hide while having a chicken as a bait outside. The animal got so bold, that he comes to check us out in the middle of the day.
