Which is the off and which is the near horse in a team?

Off is the one on the right
near is on the left

Just as the sides of a horse... near is the left hand horse when you are behind them; off side is the right hand horse. I guess if you have a 3-horse hitch, then the center horse is called "center"?

Nora, we call our middle horse "a little off" cause she's not all there.

The off is the right and near is the left when standing behind them.
