Unusual walk behind cultivator--looking for information
Posted by Charlie T at 2014-09-02 15:06:03
My friend pulled this two-horse walk-behind cultivator out of a field on his family farm in central Wisconsin. The handles and tongue have rotted away, and the parts and pieces that set the depth are in a jumbled mess on the ground now. Does anyone know what make this was, or even better know where I can see a picture of how it is supposed to go together? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

Looks like the Front Porch does not like Google Drive. See if these photos show up:

Those are pretty common around this area. I think I have 5 of them here, all need restoring. I will try to look at them and see if any match yours.

set a handles on the back, and the stuff laying on the ground goes on top or below the tongue....functions as a double tree...rods allow for adjustment of single trees up and down to adjust draft/height of critter
Mine has just one arch.....makes me wonder if this was one that had a seat and handles to control the gangs instead of foot pedals

Those springs have threaded rods and a hand adjustment knob--so you can adjust the spring tension. Is that a depth control?

I might be off the mark, but i think it is a Case combined riding and walking cultivator/riding with handle controla ....Case is the only one I've ever saw with the adjustment knob....as to the springs...on alot of the walk behinds the spring sorta counterbalanced the weight of the tongue and gangs....taking neck weight off thwe tongue and making it easier to lift and swing the gangs in or out to the row your
