Mule
Posted by Gary at 2014-08-18 20:13:46
How rare is a buckskin mule with Zebra stripes on his legs and a "Cross" across his withers as you see on donkeys. I personally have never seen a mule like this before although I have never been a "mule person".

I have one she is on the Grulla side of buckskin. You want to see an awesome Palomino mule is for sale in New Mexico on craiglist. Never saw a golden Palomino with silver mane and tail like that not a Mule anyhow

I have seen quite a few and owned one. Dun colored I should say.

Both Zebra lower leg stripes and the cross across the withers are pretty common in donkeys and come from their wild ass ancestors. I have a standard donk with those characteristics. Had he not been gelded and been bred to a mare with buckskin genetics, they might have passed them on to the mule they produced.

I have one and have seen quite a few over the course of my experience with mules. Although I think most would be considered a dun or grulla instead of a buckskin. A buckskin more than likely only has the dark line along it's back and maybe dark mane and socks.

Thanx for the responses. When I saw this mule I had to have him. I will get some pictures of him and attempt to post them on here. He's only around 14 hands and 800 lbs but I look forward to having some fun with him later this fall.
