North western WI. A short wheat crop is suddenly everywhere, and is "headed". Someone called it Spring Wheat. How is that different from Winter wheat? When would this have been planted? We had snow on the ground at least a week into May.

Spring wheat, planted in spring. Winter wheat planted in fall, dies back, comes back in spring and is ahead of spring wheat.

Thanks.

On another note..... drove past a bean field and a corn field yesterday that had been hit with hail Wednesday evening. Total destruction. I was amazed it was so total. Only stems remaining of the beans, and one central stalk for the corn.
