I'm up to my ears in them! I finally got a pair of draft shafts set up on the carriage for which I actually bought the horse! Here is a pic:
Lots of finish work to do on them. I just acquired a beautiful, racy little buggy for my little morgan mare. It's a complete restore, but in fantastic condition. Wheel work will be finished soon. New shafts coming next week. When I get those set up and the wheels back, I'll go for a mad dash around the neighborhood before I start tearing it down.
Even working on the modern steel carriage. Found a few balance issues that can be corrected with traditional shafts, so those are coming too.
Gosh I'm happy! :o) Up to my ears in rust, old wood, dirt, sawdust and horses!

Great looking setup Barb. Thanks for the update. Never too many projects.
Thanks,M.Burley. The shafts are all apart again, getting prepped for paint. Lengthy process. It'll probably be another couple weeks before I get to hitch to this vehicle again.

Neal, so far as I know, there's no law that specifies orientation, just mandatory use. This is the easiest way for me to hang them from a carriage and everybody (who knows what an SMV sign is in the first place) recognizes it, again so far as I know.
This vehicle has not been equipped with our usual array of warning lights because it's been shedded most of its life. When we're done it'll be equipped with a strobe at minimum.

After you pay the fine then you will know there is a law for smv.
