Might not be on for awhile
Posted by Rod SW WI at 2014-07-13 12:03:39
Might not be on for a little while. I am sitting in the University of Wisconsin Hospital waiting for a double bypass. They are hoping to work me in by Monday or Tuesday evening. I guess all those eggs floated in bacon grease along with the bacon wasn't the best thing for me afterall!!! Who knows?? Prognossis is good.

Best of luck to you, I will say some prayers for you and your family. My son was almost killed two years ago and I believe he is alive today because of the staff at UW.

Rod-you and your wife and doctors will be in our thoughts and prayers. Do what they tell you and have a speedy recovery, do the rehab. Try cooking with olive oil instead of the bacon grease, it's supposed to be good for you. It seems to have helped with my high cholesterol count.

Bacon and eggs are GOOD for you! It must have been all those yummy, carby things that did the damage...pasta, potatoes, pancakes, cinnamon sweet rolls... Hope they fix you up well, Rod, and you are back home soon!

I bought 9 pounds of the best bacon on sale for $3.19 a pound 2 days before I hit the emergency room. Surgery is supposed to be tomorrow evening. Sure is boring waiting around the hospital. One artery is 75% blocked the other 90%.

Maybe now I will have more energy to hitch the horses again!!

Dad had triple last spring. It's not as bad as it once was. Enjoy a few weeks off and take it slow. We'll be waiting to hear from you in a couple weeks.

Rod,
Hope to see you back on here soon. Now to the Bacon! Found me some new healthy bacon. (No not turkey!)

Good quality thick sliced bacon, Smokehouse Maple rub, and real maple syrup. Rub the bacon on both sides with the rub. Place on the smoker on high smoke with low heat for about an hour. Once it looks done drizzle with maple syrup and kick the heat up to about 250-275. The result is a caramelized candy like coating over the bacon. Good grub!

KM - you've just made bacon a dessert food!
