Starting a new pair
Posted by Rob Johnson at 2014-07-13 05:48:48
Of Brown Swiss.
I've heard so much about the breed , now I've been given the chance to start a pair , and so far , I'm impressed !.
Our OTT filly is also coming to the party really well now , she is going to be a beauty !.
The gelding will take more time.

Pace , these boys are doing very well.
I've had and driven Dairy Shorthorn , Jersey , and Illawarra bullocks , these 2 boys are right up there with the best of them.
I've arranged to take on 2 Brown Swiss calves each year , hopefully I'll get a couple of matching pairs , eventually.
One of these boys is going to be very big , and powerful.
The other less so , but he is a quicker walker.
I expect to start using them soon , feeding out.
I figure little , and often , is the way to go , while they are young.
They are walked somewhere different every day , and they see plenty of traffic too.
Regards Rob J.

I'm getting a friend of mine in to bullock driving too.
Her calves are younger than mine , again Brown Swiss , but they are coming along nicely.
They are going to very powerful animals !.
