My Kind o' Gal
Posted by hammerhead at 2010-03-05 21:25:57
Today I went to get a load of woodchips for the hen house. I went into the office and met a cute young blonde lady who I noticed had a tiny baby slung from her shoulder. It was one of those carriers that goes over the shoulder and under the other arm, kind of like a tiny hammock. I told the lady what I wanted and I expected her to call somebody to load me up but I guess she was there alone. She told me which pile to go to and disappeared out the back door. Next thing I know here she comes, with baby, driving a yard-and-a-half loader. From the ground to the seat on that machine was at least ten feet so the potholes in the dirt lot made for a wild ride. I could see that baby swinging around and once I saw her catch it when it was headed for the door. She gave me two scoops in the pickup and we met back at the office. I said, "That baby can't be more than a month old". She told me, "He's seven days, but that was only his second trip in the loader". Baby was sound asleep, seemed like he'd slept through the whole show. I said, "I guess you're a farm girl, huh?" She laughed. "Yeah"

LOVE IT!! I used to clean the horse stalls with my youngest in a front carrier. With a clean diaper and a full stomach, he was good for about three stalls. That brings back some good memories!
